The 10 Worst Charities in America
National Relief Charities
Brian J. Brown was previously the head of National Relief Charities (NRC), an organization designed to help improve the quality of life for Native Americans living on reservations. He served as the head of NRC for a few years before stepping down to establish his own organization called Charity One Inc, designed to promote education for Native Americans.
However, it was revealed in 2013 that he embezzled $4 million from NRC, laundering it through Charity One, Inc. He used the money to buy a condo in Thailand, where he had been living since 2006. He was arrested in the States after a trip to Thailand, and charged with wire fraud and money laundering.
