It follows Hugh Glass, stranded in the uncharted wilderness, trying to make his way back to civilization. The film was a huge success, receiving 12 Academy Award nominations and grossing $533 million dollars.
It is a supernatural horror film based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel. The scary flick follows a group of children in Maine who are forced to face their demons in the form of Pennywise the clown. It was a huge success and is the highest-grossing horror film of all time, earning $700 million.
The entirety of the movie was filmed in Canada, most notably the Riverdale neighborhood in Toronto. Another notable location used for filming in Ontario is Port Hope.
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
This superhero flick was filmed in Vancouver, and it was the biggest production at the time to be filmed in Canada – it was also the most expensive film to be made at the time. As the third installment in the X-Men series, it saw Hugh Jackman and the rest of the cast reprise their roles.
It sees the X-Men fighting against Magneto once again. The discovery of an antidote to mutations causes lines to be drawn, as the general population encourage mutants to rid themselves of their powers. The film was met with mixed reception. The action scenes and acting were praised, while the screenplay was criticized and the lack of diversity in the large cast was a problem.
