Cruel Intentions (1999)
A romantic drama starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, and Reese Witherspoon, Cruel Intentions was partially filmed in Toronto. It was a huge box office success, earning $75 million while having a budget of $10 million.

This disaster flick was based on the book The Coming Global Superstorm by Art Bell. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Emmy Rossum, it follows a family struggling to survive in the face of catastrophic weather events.
It was filmed in both Toronto and Montreal. It was a commercial success, grossing $544 million dollars over its time in theaters. Despite its successes, it was criticized for being scientifically inaccurate and for its over-the-top writing.
