Early Odds of Each Team Winning the 2016 Stanley Cup

24. Arizona Coyotes 85-1

The Arizona Coyotes have regularly proven they do not belong this low on the list. The young players in Arizona are finally starting to realize playing defense is just as important as scoring goals. The worst defensive team in the Western Conference last year is now playing with an even goal differential through 23 games this season. The odds on the Coyotes have come down since the start of the season, but they will only continue to fall if they continue their solid play.

23. New Jersey Devils 80-1

The New Jersey Devils are another team that is having their bad reputation from the last few seasons push them lower on this list than they deserve. Hockey fans know anything can happen once the playoffs start, and they Devils are currently sitting just one point out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference through 23 games. They already have one of the best goalies in the league, but they still need to develop an offense capable of scoring in the playoffs.

22. Calgary Flames 80-1

The Calgary Flames have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NHL this year. After making the playoffs with 97 points last year, the Flames are currently tied with the Edmonton Oilers for the worst record in the league. The Flames have also surrendered 87 goals in only 24 games, which is the worst in the NHL. This team proved they have talent last year, but winning the Stanley Cup is impossible when you surrender nearly four goals a game.
