Best Halloween Movies to Re-Watch This October
If you’re looking for a Halloween movie to watch with young children, a perfect example of a movie that deals with the supernatural and still remains heart-warming and funny is Casper, based on the animated cartoon series Casper the Friendly Ghost.
Casper, which was released in 1995, marks the first time that a CGI character was the lead in a popular movie, and even though the technology was in its infancy, the movie was a crowd-pleasing favorite. Christina Ricci starred as Kat, the object of ghost-Casper’s fascination, and 90’s heartthrob Devon Sawa played the briefly-human Casper.
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Billed as a musical-science-fiction-horror-comedy, The Rocky Horror Picture Show manages to be all of those things, and more.
Based on a stage musical of the same name, the show follows hapless Brad and Janet as they come across a castle occupied by a myriad of strange creatures, including an alien transvestite scientist named Dr. Frank N. Furter. Through song and dance, Dr. Frank N. Furter shows Brad and Janet his most fabulous invention — a human-like creation named Rocky.
The movie was originally a flop, but it quickly became a favorite for midnight movie parties, where fans would talk back to the screens, throw props around, and enjoy the antics of “shadow casts” who would mime the action on the screen while lip-syncing the lines.
