Are You Afraid of the Dark? 5 True Ghost Stories That Will Haunt Your Dreams

Ghouls, goblins, monsters, and axe murderers rejoice! For the month of October is upon us and the most important day of your calendar year is fast approaching!

Don’t worry, I don’t believe in ghouls, goblins, or monsters. As for axe murderers, I mean … it’s 2018.

These days, you can’t find very many people arguing in favor of the existence ghouls and goblins. Thank the Internet for that. You can, however, find website after website, tweet after tweet, and book after book documenting the very spooky and seemingly credible, real-life ghost stories.

Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the more popular, real-life ghost stories. Some of the stories listed here would go on to inspire multi-million-dollar movie franchises. Others would earn millions of re-tweets. While all of them, at one point or another, caused a lot of very intelligent people to question the existence of the paranormal.

Do you believe in ghosts? After reading the following list of true ghost stores, you just might.

1. Hotel Monte Vista

Some people book hotels for the amenities while others are just looking for a comfortable place to rest their head after a long day. But, patrons of Arizona’s Hotel Monte Vista should expect more than continental breakfasts and complimentary wake-up calls.

The Hotel Monte Vista has been around since January 1, 1927. And, over the years, they’ve had the pleasure of serving all sorts of people from all walks of life. And, unfortunately for those in-need of a good night’s rest, some of those people have never left.

The Hotel Monte Vista has a reputation for being haunted. But don’t just take my word for it. Take their website’s! The place is haunted by long-dead bank robbers, a phantom bellboy, a baby in the basement, and more. My personal favorite is “The Meat Man,” which haunts Room 220 by changing the channels on the television and touching guests with his cold, dead hands.

2. Ghost Child Speaks

You’d think that the abundance of HD quality smartphone cameras that YouTube would be filled with unsettling videos of apparitions. Thankfully, the team at Huff Paranormal is leading the charge.

Their website and YouTube channel are loaded with odd videos and audio recordings of entities speaking from beyond the grave. We could go in to detail about any of these real-life ghost stories, but to me, there’s one in particular that sticks out.

Take a look at this video, and be sure to listen carefully. When you turn up the volume, you can clearly hear a child talking. Which is fine, you know, if there was actually a child in the video. But there isn’t. At least, not on this plain of existence.

3. Dear David

Some ghost stories play out in the basements of old houses or the attics of long forgotten barns. But, in the true spirit of the technological age that we call our own, this one took place in a one-bedroom apartment and played out over Twitter.

On August 7, 2017, Twitter user Adam Ellis took to the social networking site to detail his very peculiar, paranormal experience. It began with a terrifying, sleep-paralysis episode where Ellis was visited by a dented-headed child. What follows is a detailed account of bad dreams, strange pictures, odd happenings, and even stranger behavior from Ellis’ two cats.

There is absolutely no way for me to detail every, step-by-step occurrence here. There’s absolutely no way that I can do it justice. If you’re curious (and have nerves of steel), make a bowl of popcorn and click the link above.
